POSITION OF OFFICIALS
In a Scent Work/Nosework trial, there will be officials near or within the search area.  They will include the judge (who may move into the search area) and stewards (eg Search Area Steward, Official Timer, Score Steward and potentially a video-taker;  in addition there will be a Hide Steward who will normally be near but outside the search area).  The judge and other officials will do their best to create the least distraction possible to competitors, but it is nevertheless important that you accustom your dog to the presence of other people when you and your dog are approaching the search area and start line and undertaking the searches.

The following short video illustrates the position of stewards in some scenarios in each of the four elements.
