INTERIORS
An interior search may be held inside a room or rooms in a building (for example an office, classroom, kitchen, bathroom, warehouse, hall etc). It can be in an empty room.
The Judge may include props (eg furniture, children's toys or other objects) to add interest and complexity to the search area. The hide can be located anywhere within the search area – depending on the level at which you are competing, it can be on the floor, or on or in an object or piece of furniture; it can be on top of furniture or some other object or suspended. It can be just inside the room/start line (a threshold hide) or somewhere deep into the area. In each class, there is a maximum height for each hide. It is important that we expose our dogs to as many different scenarios as possible in training, so that they are not fazed by a different type of interior; and remember to pause at the start line so that you and your dog can take in the picture (and for the dog the odour) of the whole search area. In the table below, the duration range specified is the minimum and maximum timeframe that a judge can set for a search. |
